Weekend Happenings: Halloween in Ocean City, Part 1

Halloween is almost here and on the Eastern Shore, we really know to celebrate. Fortunately for us, this weekend (we’ll call it Halloween-weekend-eve) is chocked full of spooky events that are designed to get us into the spirit. Think spooky hayrides, one of the biggest festivals on the East Coast, a great pumpkin race and a marathon with hundreds of Halloween enthusiasts taking over the boardwalk in Ocean City. With only one more weekend before the official holiday throw down, we’re wasting no time celebrating! Happy fall y’all!

25th Annual Sea Witch Festival

October 24th through the 26th

The 25th Annual Sea Witch Festival is an Eastern Shore tradition, celebrating all things “wicked, wild and wonderful.” The nationally acclaimed festival is a celebration of the fall with an intense focus on Halloween themes. The event takes place in downtown Rehoboth and includes a costume parade, vendors, games and entertainment.  There’s even a fiddler’s convention! We plan on spending our entire Saturday here so stay tuned for our play-by-play!

Spooks and Spirits 2 Weekend

October 25th

Frontier Town undergoes a spooktacular transformation this time of year, becoming the perfect Halloween destination for families and children of all ages. Candy corn guess contests, scary movies, costume contests and trick or treating are just a few of the fun activities planned. Looking for something a little spookier? The vampire ball and haunted trail through the wicked woods of FrontFEAR Town will take place inside the western theme park. You can enjoy food, music and activities while you wait in line to walk the trail. (This is something Shorebread looks forward to every year!)

Seaside 10 Mile Run/5K Halloween Bash:

October 25th

Ocean City is gearing up for what will be the 21st annual running of the Seaside 10. All are welcome to come wearing the most outrageous costumes you can dream up! Did we mention that it’s a great way to celebrate Halloween?! The races will give you the chance to run up and down Ocean City will taking in the fantastic view of the ocean. This is a wonderful family event and it’s suggested that everyone (spectators too!) come in costumes to make the event even more fun!

Giant Halloween Beach Maze:

October 25th & 26th

From 10AM to 6PM on North Division Street Beach there will be a fun, scary beach maze set up for your family’s enjoyment. This is pure Halloween fun for kids of all ages with tons of fun activities! Wicked witches, pirates of the sand, scarecrows, ghouls in the graveyard, zombies and more await you. Be there if you dare!

Great Pumpkin Race:

October 25th

The fun continues with the “Great Pumpkin Race” on Saturday, October 25th at 1PM on the boardwalk near North Division Street. Participants build their own pumpkin race car to bring and compete in a wacky downhill race. Prizes are awarded in each division as well as for creativity.

OC Rally and Halloween Boardwalk Parade- Drive in Disguise:

October 25th

For the 4th year in a row, residents and visitors with a vintage OC license plate are invited to ride down the Boardwalk during the annual OC Vintage License Plate Rally. In addition to vintage license plates, anyone wishing to decorate their car is invited to ride down the boardwalk as well. Prizes will be awarded, various info booths are set up, and a DJ will play music.

Halloween Spook-Out Party

October 26th

The final Town of Ocean City Halloween party of the year kicks off at Northside Park gym for carnival games, arts and crafts, hayrides, snacks and so much more! Get your costume on and contests are scheduled through the event.
